Research shows that those students that are actively
involved in music are more likely to achieve success in both the academic
environment and in society.
In 2018, Ubobo State School commenced a unique and exciting venture
for a small, rural school, to offer an Instrumental Music program to all
students. After much research and negotiations with prospective providers, the Ubobo
State School Instrumental Music program commenced. This is delivered via
eLearning, using an iPad to connect with the teacher.
Students at Ubobo learn either the keyboard or guitar and
can start from a Prep age. The costs of the Instrumental Music lessons are
shared between the school and parents/carers, making the program particularly
viable for both. The Ubobo State School Instrumental Music program is delivered
as 30 minute lessons, in small groups, and during school hours to students.
This is a flagship program for Ubobo and something the
school takes great pride in. Support has also been
received from Colin Boyce MP, Member for Callide with financial support for
equipment. Mr Boyce noted, “I commend you on the introduction of the
instrumental music program at Ubobo State School. I would be happy to support
your initiative to help start your music program in the school which I’m sure
will benefit the children’s learning and enjoyment of music immensely.”
